P.O.W.E.R............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what is going on for the past few days...???????The life of all mysoreans has been constantly punctuated by power cuts. The newspapers said that the state was experiencing a shortfall of about 610MW power,420MW of it was owing to the stoppage of power generation by two RTPS units for maintainence....honestly-does any of this explaination make sense to the common man, whose life is completely dependent on electricity(mostly reflecting the plight of students like me who are supposed to be enjoying holidays, end up inventing new ways to do it minus electricity instead!!!!!)some said that this was because the central govt do not want to provide enough electricity to karnataka because a BJP govt has come to power in the state...but seriously, why pull the common man into all this?Isnt there a better solution? Some friends of mine are visibly shattered that the power crisis has been affecting their download time!!!! :P
i try to find alternative ways to kill time...
1.listen to fm-we mysoreans are blessed with only 2 radio channels to speak of....both of them competing furiously against each other for 'the worst radio station to ever exist' trophy...sigh!!!!whatever happened to soulful music eh?me and my dad have taken up to celebrating every time they finally decide to air a hindi song.ive realised the importance of the saying 'silence is golden' after listening to these radio channels.
2.try to beat your dog in a sleep-marathon......tough job!he sleeps, unmindful of the absence of electricity. For God's sake-cant he pretend to be an insomniac even for a
day?????????????
3.(applicable only after 7 on a cloudless night).....stare at the stars!!!! count them if you plan to do no.2 and no.3 simultaneosly.
4.grab a good book!!ive learnt to read between the lines........ :)
5.in case of a messy room(applicable 99/100 times-btw,tell me if you're the odd person out,my mum will dedicate a monument to you maybe)........CLEAN!!!!!! i can guarentee you that it will keep you occupied for anywhere between 2-4 hrs.and after the effort, you can definitely get back to competing with your dog on the sleep marathon that i mentioned earlier.
6.explore the city!go for a walk man!everytime i look out and see betta from my terrace i feel nostalgic about missing this city, maybe a year from now .... :(
7.read the newspapers!amazing how much information can be crammed into such a small space-an art, mastered by journalists and students :D
8.gardening......its a nice feeling to stare out of the window into the garden when it rains!!!!
i guess that should definitely keep you occupied until the govt works out on a solution.any more ideas-do let us all know-surely it would be of immense help.ahhh-lemme just post this before the power goes off again....!!!!!!!!
