after life

when people retire, what is the normal routine that everybody follows to give them a deserving send-off?
party,a function is organized, garlands etc etc
i havent really heard of how people in the MNC's retire-i guess bigger parties with lavish food and many bouquets of flowers....
the Indian railways treats its engine drivers in an unique style.the day the driver retires, the engine which he will be riding on is adorned with flowers and decorated in a befitting manner....not an inch is left uncovered.and on that day, even the fastest trains will have to stop to let our old guy pass...he is given the honor of not waiting at any signals.seems like they wanna say to him-your last day-you're the king!!!
i wish that when i retire-i wanna retire like an engine driver......

HI, how very out-of-context of me, but i happened to read the following lines in a blog i was just surfing

All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful:
The Lord God made them all.

I'm quite interested to know where you got these lines from, cause this used to be my school prayer, around 13 years ago!

All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful,
The Lord God made them all.

Each little flower that opens,
Each little bird that sings,
He made their glowing colors,
He made their tiny wings.

The purple-headed mountain,
The river running by,
The sunset, and the morning,
That brightens up the sky;

The cold wind in the winter,
The pleasant summer sun,
The ripe fruits in the garden,
He made them every one.

He gave us eyes to see them,
And lips that we might tell,
How great is God Almighty,
Who has made all things well.

This is the whole poem,as written by Cecil Francis Alexander. This used to be a poem for us in primary school,so thats where id heard it.And also,James Herriot has written a book each on every line of the first para, making it the title.
So there you go-all i could tell you abt the poem!
